In Samashki village, law enforcers beat quarantine violators, local residents report

In Chechnya, in the village of Samashki in the Achkhoi-Martan District, law enforcers beat a man, who left home on the holiday of Eid al-Fitr despite the restrictions of the quarantine regime, and his female relative, a local resident told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"A guy just looked out of the house and went in (back). They called him. He came up, and one of them approached him from behind and began to strangle him. The guy almost lost consciousness. His mother came out with a month-old grandson in her arms and started screaming. They pushed the woman, and she hit on a [police] UAZ car. One of the law enforcers slipped and fell on the gravel. Other law enforcers pushed the guy at that time, and he fell on the first law enforcer. The mother of the guy fell on him in order to protect him. The woman got a hematoma under her eye. They hit her several times," the local resident said.

On May 24, WhatsApp users disseminated several audio messages reporting that in the village of Samashki in the Achkhoi-Martan District, law enforcers beat passers-by for violations of the quarantine regime on the first day of the celebration of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"They were beating women, children, and women with babies. They injured a guy to his head, and they beat his mother, so she got a hematoma under her eye. They were beating people with their feet," says a woman in one of the messages disseminated through WhatsApp as translated from the Chechen language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Moreover, one of the reports states that law enforcers tied a quarantine violator to a lamp post. The photo illustrating the message shows a man standing tied to a lamp post.

The "Caucasian Knot" does not have confirmation of the information voiced by users of WhatsApp.
