Adygea faces coronavirus outbreak after crowded funeral ceremony

In Adygea, the funeral ceremony in the village of Bzhedugkhabl which had been attended by crowds of people sharply worsened the situation with the spread of the coronavirus infection in one of the regions. The leader of the republic instructed his subordinates to tighten the control over compliance with restrictions in the municipality.

Earlier, Adygea used to occupy the last place in the Southern Federal District (SFD) by the number of coronavirus-infected patients.

By May 20, in Adygea, the number of coronavirus-infected people reached 525. Of them, eight patients died.

In Adygea, the incidence of coronavirus cases has increased because of the situation in the Krasnogvardeisky District, reports Sergey Zavgorodniy, the head of the Department for Adygea of the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision). According to Sergey Zavgorodniy, 151 coronavirus-infected people were detected in the Krasnogvardeisky District.

All mass events are strictly prohibited, and the movement of the population is minimized in the region, emphasizes Alexander Narolin, Prime Minister of Adygea.

Murat Kumpilov, the leader of Adygea, has admitted that "the situation is not simple." The Adyg leader emphasized the importance of explanatory conversations before the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. Believers should refrain from visiting cemeteries and attending public events, Murat Kumpilov notes. Similar measures are recommended to be taken on May 21 on the Day of Remembrance and Mourning for the victims of the Caucasian War.
