Armenian authorities to extend state of emergency due to coronavirus

The number of coronavirus cases in Armenia has increased by 11 and amounted to 977. The Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, has stated that the government will extend the state of emergency in the country by another month after April 14.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since March 16, Armenia is under the state of emergency in connection with coronavirus; any events involving more than 20 people are banned. Authorities have restricted movement in the streets.

The Premier has noted that it is impossible to completely block the country's life; therefore, since April 13, a number of organizations will be able to fully work. The regime will be eased for agriculture, forestry, fisheries, mining, energy, water, freight, financial and insurance, social security and medical care, and tobacco spheres. From April 20, the work of the scientific sphere, textile and household stores will also restart.

In general, according to Pashinyan, the situation in Armenia has stabilized, but has not improved; and a new virus outbreak is not excluded.
