Akhmetkhanov's family asks Kadyrov to forgive him

The wife of Aslambek Akhmetkhanov, who was severely criticized by the head of Chechnya, has admitted that a quarantine violation is a shame, and asked Ramzan Kadyrov to forgive her husband. Akhmetkhanov disappeared from Gekhi, his fellow villager has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 1, the Grozny ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company) showed a report about how Ramzan Kadyrov, the Mufti of Chechnya and senior officials came to Aslambek Akhmetkhanov, the head of an oil company. Kadyrov rebuked Akhmetkhanov in harsh words for drinking alcohol in the company of women, and for shooting amid coronavirus quarantine. Akhmetkhanov apologized to the head of Chechnya, explaining his behaviour by his birthday celebration.

A 1.5-minute video was spread among WhatsApp users in Chechnya, in which a sobbing woman asks Ramzan Kadyrov to forgive Aslambek Akhmetkhanov.

"Ramzan Akhmatovich, we are the family of Aslambek Akhmetkhanov from Gekhi, I'm his wife. <...> We are very disgraced by our deed, by the deed of the father of these children, my husband. <...> For the sake of my children, Ramzan Akhmatovich, forgive him," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has translated the words of the woman sitting surrounded by six girls.

It follows from the woman's words that Akhmetkhanov is absent at home, and not of his own will.

Aslambek Akhmetkhanov is not in Gekhi, one of his fellow villagers told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "His current whereabouts is unknown. Relatives refuse to contact anyone; they live in fear," the man said.
