In North Ossetia, authorities tighten restrictive measures because of coronavirus threat

In North Ossetia, two cases of the coronavirus infection have been confirmed. Now residents of North Ossetia over 65 years old and persons suffering from chronic diseases are banned from leaving their place of residence. The North-Ossetian authorities also temporarily suspended operation of public transport.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 1, the first two cases of the coronavirus infection were detected in North Ossetia.

Vyacheslav Bitarov, the leader of North Ossetia, signed a decree to tighten the regime of self-isolation in the republic. "Residents over 65 years old and persons diagnosed with diseases that require compliance with the self-isolation regime are obliged not to leave their place of residence (stay), except in cases of direct threat to their lives and health," the website of the leader of the region reported on April 1.

The decree also introduces social distancing and restrictions on movement for other residents of the republic and expands the list of trade outlets which operation is temporarily suspended.

Moreover, starting from April 1, the operation of public passenger transport has been suspended in the region.
