Special quarantine regime introduced in Azerbaijan

From March 24 to April 20, 2020, residents of Azerbaijan over 65 years of age are prohibited from leaving home.

By March 23, the number of people infected with coronavirus in Azerbaijan reached 72. One of those infected women has died.

All the public events in the country are postponed until mid-April. For the same period, the work of all cinemas, theatres, entertainment centres and gyms was suspended, wedding ceremonies are prohibited.

The special quarantine regime will end on April 20, the operational headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers has informed.

Citizens aged over 65 are not allowed to leave their homes. Those who live alone will be helped by social workers, Sakhil Babaev, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, said on air of the AzTV Channel. He explained the ban by saying that older people are more vulnerable to coronavirus.

Besides, from March 24 to April 20, restrictions are imposed on entry and exit from Baku, Sumgait and the Apsheron District.

Baku residents are advised to minimize subway trips and use ground transport. Citizens are forbidden to gather in streets and public places in groups of more than 10 people.
