Court extends arrest of Ingush activist Magomed Khamkhoev
A court has left Magomed Khamkhoev, a participant of a rally in Magas, in custody until June 25. The defence found the court's decision unfounded.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 5, 2019, together with other suspects in a criminal case on use of violence against a public officer, Magomed Khamkhoev was taken into custody by a decision of the Nalchik City Court. On May 29, 2019, it became known that the arrest of Magomed Khamkhoev was extended for other four months. On December 21, the Yessentuki City Court left him in custody until March 25.
Today, the Stavropol Territorial Court has prolonged the detention of Magomed Khamkhoev until June 25.
Magomed Khamkhoev was initially accused of using violence against a public officer, and now public prosecutor has changed his position, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by advocate Fatima Urusova.
"Investigators failed to provide evidence that Magomed Khamkhoev used violence at the rally in Magas. At present, my client is accused of incitement to use violence. He allegedly incited people to that. There is no evidence either," said Fatima Urusova.
