MIA explains raid at Tangim Mosque by safety concerns

Dozens of law enforcers were examining believers' documents after the Friday (February 7) prayer in the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. Policemen were ensuring safety in a crowded place, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has assured.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcers are regularly conducting their Friday raids in the vicinity of the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala.

On February 7, law enforcers' mobile posts were deployed in three places, the journalist, Idris Yusupov, who was present at the venue, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Cars were stopped, and drivers' personal data were recorded," Mr Yusupov has explained.

One of the believers named Said, said that dozens of law enforcers took part in the raid.

A source from the Dagestani MIA told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the mobile police units were engaged in "ensuring security in crowded places."
