Contract soldier perishes in NKR

Arthur Nalbandyan, a serviceman of the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), has died in an accident, the NKR’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

According to the MoD, the accident occurred on January 21 at the defensive section of one of the military units of the Defence Army.

“Arthur Nalbandyan, born in 1980, died as a result of an accident,” the press service of the NKR’s MoD told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

In 2019, 20 military servicemen of the Armenian Armed Forces and the Defence Army of the NKR died during their military service, another 29 deaths in the army were not related to the military service, the General Prosecutor’s Office (GPO) of Armenia has reported, noting that the 2019 overall death toll decreased by 22% compared to 2018.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on December 2, 2019, two soldiers of the NKR’s Defence Army were wounded on the troops contact line in the conflict zone; one of them later died.
