"Alternative" reports liberation of two persons from labour slavery in Dagestan

For several months, a husband and a wife were forced to work for free at a farm not far from Karabudakhkent. Their second attempt to escape from labour slavery was successful, the movement "Alternative" reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 6, it was reported about the liberation of a 69-year-old resident of Magnitogorsk, who had been forced to work at brick factories and quarries and to graze cattle in Dagestan for free during 24 years.

Labour slavery is a problem typical for the whole Russia, and every year, the movement "Alternative" receives the growing number of appeals, reports Oleg Melnikov, the head of the movement.

The movement "Alternative" posted a story about spouses Sergey and Olga in its Telegram channel. The spouses were "lured to Dagestan" at a railway station in Moscow in October 2019. According to Sergey and Olga, passports and mobile phones were seized from all workers who were brought to the farm.

In October, the spouses tried to escape, but they were caught and beaten. At night on January 5, Sergey and Olga made their second attempt to escape, and they managed to get to Makhachkala. After the New Year holidays, they plan to apply for new passports and find new jobs.

Since 2011, activists of the movement "Alternative" are engaged in the liberation of people from labour slavery.
