Alleged Magas attacker regains consciousness

Akhmed Imagozhev, who was hospitalized after the attack on the road-and-patrol service (DPS) post in Magas, whom law enforcers treat as one of the attackers, has come to senses and started talking; investigators are working with him. The resources that are tracing the activities of the "Islamic State"* have reported that the IS* had claimed responsibility for the attack.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 31, 2019, two attackers knocked down with their car a DPS inspector, who stood on the road at the entrance to Magas, and then attacked the police outfit with their knives. According to law enforcers, the attackers were Mikail Miziev and Akhmed Imagozhev. Miziev was shot dead on the spot; and Imagozhev was wounded and placed into the intensive care ward. One of the policemen was also killed; three other law enforcers received wounds.

The health condition of Akhmed Imagozhev, a resident of Ingushetia, has stabilized, he regained consciousness, a source from the republic's hospital told the "Interfax". According to his story, police are on duty at the ward of the alleged Magas attacker; and investigators work with him.

The Telegram channel "Directorate 4", which monitors militants' activities, has reported today that the IS* had claimed responsibility for the attack in Magas. "Moreover, the IS* declared the death of two policemen, although only one casualty was officially announced," the channel has added.

Earlier, sources reported the death of the second policeman, who was seriously wounded in the attack on the DPS post in Magas, at hospital, although there was no official confirmation of the fact so far.
