Searches conducted in Nazran and Magas after attack on DPS post

Law enforcers have searched the homes of the two suspects of attacking policemen in Ingushetia, as well as the Cultural Heritage Centre in Magas, where, according to law enforcers, one of the attackers had worked, sources have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 31, two persons attacked the road-and-patrol service (DPS) post located at the entrance to the city of Magas. According to sources, the attackers were identified as Mikail Miziev and Akhmed Imagozhev. During the incident, a policeman and one of the attackers were shot dead; two more policemen were wounded. The second attacker was wounded and placed into an intensive care ward. According to sources, another policeman died in hospital soon after the attack.

According to law enforcers, two men armed with knives committed the attack. They knocked down a traffic policeman who was standing on the road by their car, and wounded him with knives. "Then, they attacked the DPS unit. A law enforcer, who was driving past, saw the attack on his colleagues, stopped his car and opened fire," an "Interfax" source said earlier. According to the "Interfax", this law enforcer received a minor stab wound and refused from medical care.

Law enforcers have conducted searches in Nazran, in the houses of Miziev and Imagozhev, a source familiar with the situation has informed. According to his story, the searches were also held in the Cultural Heritage Centre in Magas, where, according to law enforcers, Akhmed Imagozhev had worked as a security guard.

"Law enforcers seized computers and mobile phones. There is no information about any detainees under this case," the "Ingushetia" newspaper quotes the source as saying today.
