Seven persons hold series of pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev

Friends and colleagues of the Dagestan journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, have held a series of solo pickets in his support; they intend to continue similar actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that colleagues and friends of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the religion section of the "Chernovik" weekly, are holding regular solo pickets in his support in Makhachkala. These actions should remind the residents of Dagestan of "power structures' lawlessness," Abdulmumin's colleagues assert.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev is under arrest since this June under the case of financing terrorism.

On December 30, they held another series of solo pickets in support of their arrested colleague. The action that lasted for about an hour was held at the intersection of Gamzatov and Dakhadaev Streets, near the complex of buildings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Dagestani FSB (Federal Security Bureau) Branch, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, who was present at the action, reports.

Despite the drizzling rain and adverse weather conditions, seven persons took part in the series of pickets; several other people came to support them.

Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the "Chernovik", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the editorial staff of the weekly is coming and intends to come out to solo pickets with the only demand – to stop the criminal prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.
