IDPs from Chechnya disappointed by visit to Ingush Minister

The authorities' refusals to extend the status of internally displaced persons (IDPs) led to a disastrous situation because of their housing problems, claimed IDPs from Chechnya, who came to a meeting with the Ingush Minister of National Policy on December 25. Out of 30 people, only the leader of the initiative group was admitted to the meeting with the Minister.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in February 2018, about 200 IDPs from Chechnya complained that they got meager compensation and were deprived of their refugee status and the right to housing. The leader of Ingushetia explained the IDPs' difficulties by amendments to the law.

"I rent housing, and I take care of four minor children, including a disabled child... The authorities do not provide me with any help. They say that the budget is short of money for that," said Lida Patieva.

Asiyat Dzaurova, a mother of six children, has to rent an apartment in Magas. According to the woman, sometimes she is short of money to buy a single pack of rice.

Ramazan Evloev said that he was supposed to get housing, but his documents were lost by officials from the migration service.
