Comedian Maxim Galkin explains his reluctance to go to Chechnya by practice of public apologies

The practice of public apologies to Ramzan Kadyrov for careless statements is keeping Maxim Galkin from performing in Chechnya, the comedian said in his interview.

In an interview on the YouTube channel "And talk?" Galkin has confirmed that he didn't want to visit Chechnya.

"I'm afraid of saying something extra there, so I don't go to Chechnya. I'm a very diplomatic person, but still I like some freedom of expression ... I really dislike explaining something, and apologizing," Maxim Galkin has stated.

"I see that the performers who go there are a bit courtier. I can't do this," said the comedian, adding that he performed in Chechnya in 2000 during the second Chechen War.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the authors of careless statements about Chechen authorities are often forced to apologize for their words. Thus, in June 2018, the comedian, Semyon Slepakov, apologized for his comic song about the failure of Kadyrov as a coach of the Russian national football team.
