In Ingushetia, one of the refugees detained in Ordzhonikidzevskaya settlement released

On April 25, in the course of operative-search actions in temporary residence centres of refugees in the settlement of Ordzhonikidzevskaya of the Sunzhenskiy District of Ingushetia, two forced migrants from the Chechen Republic - Bislan Maaev, born in 1981, and Aslambek Ahmedov, born in 1968, were detained.

According to certain sources, both detainees were accused of committing a number of crimes in the territory of the Chechen Republic and in Ingushetia, including an attack on the Republic in June 2004. Later, it became clear that charges against one the detainees did not confirm, and in the evening of the following day he was released. The correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" was told about this at the Nazran office of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial."

According to human rights activists, on that day, in the course of inspecting passports at the refugees' centre in the territory of former Construction and Assembly Unit ("SMU") No. 4, 9 persons were detained. The men were brought to the militia district station and, after additional verification in the MIA database, they were released. "One of them - Bislan Maaev - was accused of resisting detention. He was administratively punished with 24 hours of custody. According to our data, he was released in the evening of April 26," they told at the HRC "Memorial." "Besides, Maaev is a collaborator of the human rights organization "International Legal Assembly" and lives in this place of compact residence (PCR) since 1999. Besides, according to refugees, he caused no resistance to detainment."

On that very day, some 20-25 persons more were detained for violations of passport regulations in the territory of another PCR in the Ordzhonikidzevskaya settlement. In the afternoon, almost all of them were released. "Only Aslambek Ahmedov was left in custody, who was, according to witnesses, drunk at the moment of detainment. Reasons of his custody are unknown," human rights activists added.

We remind you that earlier, they reported in law enforcement bodies of Ingushetia that the natives of the Chechen Republic Bislan Maaev and Aslambek Ahmedov were suspected of being involved in illegal armed formations.
