Detentions in Dagestan
On December 2, it became known that Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov, a resident of Makhachkala, was arrested on charges of keeping weapons. He was detained on November 27, when he was returning from Volgograd to Makhachkala in a car driven by Magomedgadji Magomedov. Ibnukhazhirov told that law enforcers took him and the driver to some house, where they were tortured. The press service of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported that the detainees, the 46-year-old Djabrail Ibnukhazhirov and the 29-year-old Magomedgadji Magomedov are suspected of illegal storage of weapons and links with militants. During a search of Ibnukhazhirov’s house, they found "a stock of weapons and ammunition." The defence said it had a video record depicting people in camouflage carrying packages to the attic of the detainee's house.
On December 7, law enforcers conducted a search in the village of Novosasitli, Khasavyurt District, in the house of Saadu Akhmednabiev, the brother of the Islamic preacher Abu Umar of Sasitli. They seized mobile phones and bank cards from family members; and Saadu himself was taken away somewhere by a helicopter. Law enforcers treat Abu Umar of Sasitli (Israil Akhmednabiev) as the organizer of the network for financial support for terrorists.
