Chechen native sentenced for recruitment to IS*

Today, the Southern District Military Court has found Soslan Abubakarov, a native of Chechnya, guilty of aiding and abetting terrorism and sentenced him to 2.5 years of imprisonment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September, the nineteen-year-old young man was extradited from Germany to Volgograd. According to investigators, in 2017, he used the Internet to persuade two teenagers to join the ranks of Syrian militants. Special forces fighters prevented the teenagers from leaving for Syria, and both of them were sentenced to three years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.

According to the investigators, in 2017, while living in Germany, Soslan Abubakarov used a mobile application to send notes and multimedia messages to his friends to prompt them to join the "Islamic State"*. The defendant pleaded partially guilty, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told in the press service of the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don.

Soslan Abubakarov was sentenced to two years and six months of imprisonment in a common-security penal colony.
