Chechen MIA's chief joins public condemnation of detainees

In the Gudermes District of Chechnya, the Minister of the Internal Affairs reproached the men detained on suspicion of drinking alcoholic beverages and using psychotropic substances. The involvement of the Police General in "warning conversations" does not correspond to the status of the Minister, residents of the Chechen republic suggest.

On December 2, a video with a "warning conversation" was posted on the Instagram page of the Chechen Ministry of the Internal Affairs (MIA). "Ruslan Alkhanov visited the Russian MIA's Department for the Gudermes District, where on arrival he had a conversation with offenders. Of them, some were brought to the MIA's Department for driving while being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, and some - for using narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as for other illegal actions," report the annotations to the video.

The video shows about three dozen men standing along the wall with their heads bowed down during the "warning conversation."

Social network users did not approve the use of psychotropic substances, while some of them pointed out the inadmissibility of public humiliation of detainees. "Why do they show all this in public?" wrote, in particular, user islam__0303. "You say it is not acceptable to show in public and disgrace your compatriots, but you reproach people in public for the slightest violations," agreed user dr.kosmetolog.zarema05.

Some residents of Chechnya also criticized the participation of the Minister of the Internal Affairs in the "warning conversation." "It is more or less okay, when a local police chief, a district police inspector, or a theologian is involved in such warning conversations, but not a minister," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Lechi, a staff member of a Chechen NGO.
