Woman from Volga region requests Kadyrov to return her daughter who fled to Chechnya
Zulfiya Abdulkadirova, a resident of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, appealed to Ramzan Kadyrov with a request to help return her 20-year-old daughter, who had fled to Chechnya against the will of her parents and married.
20-year-old Kamilya Abdulkadirova disappeared from home several days ago, but later contacted her relatives and told them that she had married and left for Chechnya.
Authors of many comments on Instagram suggest that if the young woman left for Chechnya of her own free will, then no intervention of the leader of the republic is required.
In October 2010, the Chechen authorities imposed a ban on bride kidnapping.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about a resonant story of a 20-year-old resident of Moscow. On July 13, Daria Serenko, an activist of the "Kitezh" crisis centre, reported that the above 20-year-old resident of Moscow was taken to Chechnya by her parents against her will. According to the activist, the young woman dated a Russian guy, and her parents were going to force their daughter to marry a fellow countryman.
On July 15, an audio message from the young woman appeared on the Internet, in which she stated that nobody had forcibly taken her away. Ekaterina Vinokurova, a member of the Human Rights Council, suggested that the young woman was forced to make such an audio record. Marriage against woman's will is not rare situation in Northern Caucasus, human rights defenders note.
