MIA promises to punish policeman for insulting Gasanguseinovs' representative

The complaint of the lawyer of the Committee against Torture (CaT) Abubakar Yangulbaev has confirmed; the former police boss of the Shamil District will be brought to disciplinary responsibility, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan has reported. Yangulbaev, who is representing the interests of the parents of the murdered Gasanguseinov brothers, believes that the policeman should be fired.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Abubakar Yangulbaev, a CaT's lawyer, filed a complaint addressed to the Dagestani MIA head, demanding to punish the former police boss. According to Yangulbaev, in his conversation with the policeman, he faced accusations of lies, juggling with facts, "playing to the public" and outright insults.

The former head of the Shamil ROVD (District Interior Division), who had been demoted to the post of a district policeman and now figures as a witness in the criminal case of the murder of the Gasanguseinov shepherd brothers, will be punished for insulting the CaT lawyer, the Dagestani MIA has promised. "A disciplinary punishment will be applied to him," says the MIA's letter to Abubakar Yangulbaev, posted on the CaT's website on November 22. The letter is not dated.

Abubakar Yangulbaev has regretted that the MIA failed to specify the punishment to be imposed on the law enforcer. "In our opinion, the only right disciplinary punishment in this case should be his dismissal," the post on the CaT's website quotes Mr Yangulbaev as saying.
