In Tbilisi, protest rally accompanied by clashes with law enforcers

In Tbilisi, despite the efforts of policemen to prevent a protest action, supporters of the opposition hung a symbolic lock on the fence of the government building and threatened to hold such actions every Thursday.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the protest actions are being held in Tbilisi starting from November 14. The protest began after Georgian MPs failed to pass a bill to change the electoral system.

The people who have come out to Tbilisi streets are demanding to remove Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of the ruling party, from power, dismiss the government and hold early parliamentary elections "under an interim government and in the conditions of an independent electoral administration."

Today, the opposition supporters have held a protest action in front of the Georgian government building. They tried to picket one of the entrances to the building and hung a symbolic lock on the fence.

Several clashes occurred between the protesters and the law enforcers, but the lock was ultimately hung on the fence of the Georgian government building, the "InterPressNews" reports.

According to Giga Ugulava, a member of the "European Georgia" Party, the activists plan to hold similar protest actions every Thursday. "On Thursdays, there will be a 'lock day' for the government," Giga Ugulava said.
