Law enforcers' raid at "Tangim" Mosque passed without detentions

Law enforcers checked documents of the participants of the Friday namaz (prayer) in the Makhachkala mosque located in Omarov Street. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) explained the raid by their concern for security.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that law enforcers are conducting regular Friday raids in the vicinity of the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala, which affect the size of the community of worshipers.

More than 50 law enforcers took part in the raid on November 8, the journalist, Idris Yusupov, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. They stopped cars and checked documents, and then, as usual, wrote down drivers' personal data in a separate list, Mr Yusupov has stated.

The Dagestani MIA explained the raid by the desire to ensure "security in crowded places." "Judging by the fact that no one called me – neither the on duty unit, nor the heads of ROVDs (District Interior Divisions), – it means there are no detainees or those who were taken to police stations," a MIA source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
