Dagestani journalist makes a film about departure of Nogai young people to Syria

Elmira Kozhaeva, the editor-in-chief of the Nogai-language newspaper "The Voice of the Steppe – Shiol Tavysy", has shot the film "Deceived" about residents of the village of Kumli who left for Syria to take part in the combat actions against the government forces of Syria.

On October 31, the first part of the investigation film was posted on the YouTube channel of the newspaper "The Voice of the Steppe – Shiol Tavysy".

"The first part of the film reports about Kurmanali Ataev, Muradin Suyundikov, and Askerbiy Aliev, three residents of the village of Kumli in the Nogai District. They left for the studies in Astrakhan, where they began to attend a mosque. After their graduation, they left for the cities of Surgut and Novy Urengoy, where they joined the so-called 'Circassian Jamaat'," Elmira Kozhaeva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on November 3.

The journalist also said that later, together with their family members, the natives of the Kumli village left for Turkey and then for the Syrian cities of Raqqah and Idlib.

According to various estimates, hundreds or even thousands of children from Dagestan, Chechnya, and other regions of the Caucasus may stay in Iraq and Syria. Their lives and health are in particular danger after the "Islamic State" (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") began to suffer large-scale defeats, reports the material "Caliphate Children: what awaits them after IS" posted at the "Caucasian Knot".
