Chechen authorities treat video with Islam Kadyrov as a trump card in a dispute with blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov

The Chechen authorities have shown their dominance in a dispute with Tumso Abdurakhmanov, who criticizes the Ramzan Kadyrov's regime, by providing him with full versions of videos about the brutal actions of Islam Kadyrov, the former mayor of Grozny. The blogger regarded the scandalous TV report about Islam Kadyrov as an attempt to get ahead of his posts.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the news agency "Chechnya Today" was headed by Chingiz Akhmadov, a journalist of the "Grozny" TV Channel, who was posting video answers to Tumso Abdurakhmanov on a social network and defending the Chechen authorities.

On October 24, the "Grozny" TV Channel made public the video in which Islam Kadyrov, the former mayor of Grozny, was threatening local residents and using an electric stunning device. In 2015, the information about such behaviour of the mayor of Grozny became the reason for his dismissal.

Aslan, a member of an NGO, c alled a statement of Chingiz Akhmadov "strange." "Why did Chingiz Akhmadov need to send Tumso Abdurakhmanov the incriminating evidence against Islam Kadyrov? The blogger is still anyway actively criticizing the authorities and Chingiz Akhmadov himself. There is some kind of a game here, it seems to me," the NGO activist said.

Tumso Abdurakhmanov himself explained that he had got the scandalous videos yet in early October. According to the blogger, the Chechen TV Channel made public the videos with Islam Kadyrov after it became known that the materials had been sent to the blogger. After that, the Chechen authorities decided to be the first to make the videos public.

The blogger called the fact of making public the videos "an unprecedented" case for the regime of Ramzan Kadyrov. "Nothing like that has ever happened. The Chechen TV Channel never showed an official torturing people," Tumso Abdurakhmanov said.
