About 300 militaries from Chechnya arrive in Syria

Fighters of the military police unit stationed in Chechnya have arrived on the Syrian-Turkish border to ensure security of the population in the warfare zone.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 9, Turkey launched the "Source of Peace" military operation on the Syrian border with the aim to defeat local Kurdish self-defence forces, create a security zone and place Syrian refugees there. After the start of the military operation of Turkish troops, women-natives of Northern Caucasus, who were with their children in a camp in Syria, fearing for their lives, asked to evacuate them from the frontline zone, said a relative of one of the women.

A unit of military police from Chechnya was sent to Syria; they flew there from an airfield in North Ossetia. Military policemen will help in withdrawing Kurdish troops from the Turkish border, as well as engage in ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order, the RIA "Novosti" writes today.

"About 300 servicemen of the military police unit of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, stationed in the Chechen Republic, have arrived in the Syrian Arab Republic to perform special missions," the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) informed on October 24.
