In Chechnya, new version of genie attack surprises Instagram users

The Deputy Qadi of the Shatoi District of Chechnya, who had earlier called on people not to believe reports of a genie attack on a local resident's house, admitted that Alims had to confront genies in the village of Vashendaroi. Instagram users were surprised by the inconsistency in the statements voiced by the religious leader.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 16, WhatsApp users reported that by making arsons, genies made a pogrom in the house of a resident of the Vashendaroi village in the Shatoi District. The deputy Qadi of the Shatoi District posted on Instagram a joint video with a resident of the Vashendaroi village, in which he called the reports unreliable.

On October 17, a new video message from the deputy Qadi of the Shatoi District was posted in the public account "ChP/Chechnya" on Instagram. The video record was shot in another room than the video prepared jointly with the resident of the Vashendaroi village, and only the deputy Qadi is shown in the video.

In the new video, the theologian presented a different version of the incident in the Vashendaroi village. "Genies made problems for one of the local residents. Alims of the Shatoi District and villagers came to help him," said, in particular, the deputy Qadi as translated from Chechen by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

As at 2:33 p.m. Moscow time, the video gained 29,600 views, and 108 comments were posted under it. Authors of many comments pointed to a contradiction in the theologian's statement.

"Didn't he refute that?" user aish__333 expressed his surprise. "In one video, you say [that] is not true, and here you say it's true," wrote user adam_218_ when addressing the theologian, as translated from Chechen by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
