South Ossetia claims attempt of Georgian scouts to cross the border

Border guards have stopped an attempt of Georgian intelligence agents to get into South Ossetia's territory, the official Tskhinvali has stated.

According to the State Security Committee (still known as the KGB) of South Ossetia, in the morning on October 18, signal barriers were triggered on the border.

"An attempt has been fixed of a scouting group of Georgian power structures of up to five persons to penetrate into the territory of South Ossetia," the KGB wrote in its Facebook, adding that the group of Georgian special agents was forced to get back.

On the same day, according to the KGB, border guards fixed a copter in the air, flying in from the Georgian territory for reconnaissance.

"Georgia continues taking actions leading to increased military danger in the region and to a threat of direct clashes," says the statement.

Tbilisi denies any accusations of provocations, the Ren TV channel reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the situation on the Georgian-South Ossetian demarcation line aggravated this September, after Georgian militaries erected a block-post near the village of Tsnelis.
