NKR counts 150 shelling attacks by Azerbaijan within a week
On September 22-28, the Azerbaijani side violated the ceasefire regime on the troops contact line for about 150 times, firing more than 1600 shots, the Ministry Defence (MoD) of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 1-7, the NKR counted 110 ceasefire violations committed by Azerbaijani militaries. The Azerbaijani MoD, which conducts a daily count of ceasefire violations, announced 19 shelling attacks undertaken by Armenia for the past 24 hours.
"On September 22-28, the Azerbaijani side violated the ceasefire regime for about 150 times on the contact line of the armed forces of Artsakh (NKR) and Azerbaijan. Over 1600 shots were fired from various-calibre small arms at Armenian positions," said the website of the NKR's MoD in its message, which was translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties agreed on the ceasefire. Despite the agreement, over two years, the parties claimed daily shelling attacks in the conflict zone, as it follows from the infographic "Karabakh after the truce: a two-year war" prepared by the "Caucasian Knot". After the meeting of officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia and Azerbaijan, held on June 20, Azerbaijan stated an almost complete cessation of shelling attacks; however, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh continues to register violations of the ceasefire.
