NAC reports details of CTO in Chegem
In Chegem, two persons who were plotting a terror act, were killed a shootout, while no law enforcers were injured, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported. The killed suspects were members of a banned terrorist organization, reported a source from the law enforcement bodies of Kabardino-Balkaria.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime has been introduced in Chegem. According to sources, two militants were killed in a shootout. According to the FSB, the killed suspects were plotting a terror act.
During the special operation, two armed members of the "religious extremist grouping" were killed, the press service of the NAC reports. The house with the extremists was cordoned off. When offered to surrender, the suspects opened fire on law enforcers and were killed by return fire. At the place of the shootout, the law enforcers discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) and machine guns.
The CTO legal regime in Chegem has been lifted, the TASS reports with reference to the operational headquarters of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).
According to a source from the law enforcement bodies, the killed suspects were members of a unit of the "Islamic State", a terrorist organization banned in Russia.
According to the preliminary information, one of the killed suspects was identified as a local resident, born in 1995, and the second suspect was a native of a "neighbouring republic," born in 1999, the Investigating Department for the KBR of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.
