Relative of Dagestani Amir Vagabov claims torture in court

Magomedamin Vagabov, a resident of the Dagestani village of Gubden, accused of rendering assistance to militants, refused to plead guilty at trial on September 12. He explained that he had incriminated himself after torture with electric current.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 12, 2018, Magomedamin Vagabov, a resident of the Gubden village, whose father is a second cousin of Magomedali Vagabov, the leader of the Gubden militants, killed in 2010, was detained on suspicion of storing a grenade and rounds. According to his father and his defender, Magomedamin Vagabov was kidnapped before his detention, and he pleaded guilty after torture. Khabib Vagabov, the father of Magomedamin Vagabov, sees the reason for the prosecution of Magomedamin in his own conflict with a law enforcer.

On September 12, in Rostov-on-Don, the North-Caucasian District Military Court began to consider the case against Magomedamin Vagabov.

The defendant himself said he did not agree with any point of the accusation.

According to him, 5-6 people attacked him, and during the detention they were beating him all over his body. Then those people also put a mask on him and took him to some unknown room, where they began to torture him with electric current. They told him what he would have to speak to law enforcers, and forced him to repeat that.

Then, according to Magomedamin Vagabov, he was taken to a unit of a law enforcement body, where law enforcers accompanied him to different offices and "intimidated and threatened" him until the arrival of his advocate. As a result, Magomedamin Vagabov signed the documents given to him by an inquiry officer.
