Azerbaijan accused Armenia of shelling four villages

During the past 24 hours, positions of Azerbaijani militaries were shelled for 22 times, including those stationed in the villages bordering on Armenia, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 10, the Azerbaijani MoD reported 23 shelling attacks in the conflict zone, the day earlier – about 20 such attacks.

The ceasefire regime was broken for 22 times during the past 24 hours, the press service of the Azerbaijani MoD has stated today.

In particular, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army deployed in the villages of Guschu Airym of the Gazakh District, and Alibeili, Agdam and Agbulag of the Tovuz District were shelled from the positions located in the villages of the Noyemberyan and Berdsk District of Armenia, says the statement posted on the MoD's website.

Besides, the shelling was conducted from the positions located "near the occupied villages," the MoD has specified.

So far, the MoDs of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not commented on the above statement on their websites.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties agreed on the ceasefire. Despite the agreement, over two years, the parties claimed daily shelling attacks in the conflict zone, as it follows from the infographic "Karabakh after the truce: a two-year war" prepared by the "Caucasian Knot". After the meeting of officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia and Azerbaijan, held on June 20, Azerbaijan stated an almost complete cessation of shelling attacks; however, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh continues to register violations of the ceasefire.
