After criticism in social networks, "Beslan Mothers" refused to raise money

The "Beslan Mothers" Committee opened an account to raise money for helping tragedy victims, but having faced a flow of negative reactions gave up the idea without receiving any money.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that early in September, North Ossetia held commemoration events on the 15th anniversary of the Beslan terror act.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 hostages and kept them in the gym of School No. 1 in the town of Beslan in North Ossetia. In total, 334 of them, including 186 children, perished, other 810 persons were injured.

On September 6, the Committee opened an account for money transfers for the needs of victims, Olga Allyonova, a "Kommersant" journalist, wrote in her Facebook page on the same day. "They didn't want to collect donations, but my colleagues and I convinced them <...> some people in Beslan are in dire need of support, including the financial one," Ms Allyonova wrote.

The news posted on the Instagram about the opening of the account by the "Beslan Mothers" Committee has triggered "curses, bullying and outright insults" of social network users, Zaur Farniyev reported on September 7 in his Facebook page.

Having faced such a flow of negative reactions in social networks, the "Beslan Mothers" decided to abandon the idea of raising money by means of the account, Aneta Gadieva, a deputy chair of the Committee, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "If people don't understand good impulses ... We can ignore them, but we thought and decided that we would somehow cope without it. We'll work as we did before. As far as we can, we'll draw attention to the problem, to these needy people," Ms Gadieva has explained.
