Authors of project on terror acts in Russia call on eyewitnesses to share their memories

The website "Takie Dela" announced the collection of materials for the project "This has never happened" about the tragic events of military campaigns in Chechnya and terror acts in Russia. The purpose of the project is to show how "an ordinary person is going through tragedies," says project manager Sergey Karpov.

"The day of September 1 (2019) marked 15 years since the terror act in Beslan, while the days of September 4-16 marked 20 years of the bombings of houses in Buynaksk, Moscow, and Volgodonsk, the day of September 30 20 years of the entry of federal troops into Chechnya, and December 11 marked 25 years from the start of the First Chechen War. A quarter of a century after the first of those inextricably related events, we still do not find the words that would not be scary to talk about the consequences of the Chechen wars and terror acts," the project's description says.

Authors of the project note its task is "to help overcome collective fears and find new words to conduct a meaningful talk about events that changed our lives forever." It is especially noted that the project "is not about politics, but about ordinary people."

According to Sergey Karpov, in total, there will be four podcasts in the first season. The first podcast has been already ready, and it is about the terror act in Beslan. Four journalists report how they were working during the tragedy in Beslan and how those events changed their lives.

Residents of the Northern Caucasus react "especially painfully" to the topics related to victims of terror acts, Sergey Karpov notes.
