In Chechnya, climbers propose to name mountain as Kadyrov's peak
On August 29, a group of climbers set flags at the peak of the highest mountain in Chechnya and offered to name it after Akhmat Kadyrov. The initiative continued the tendency to "Akhmatize" Chechnya, residents of the republic noted.
The instructor group of the Russian Special Forces University, led by Daniil Martynov, the assistant to the leader of Chechnya for the law enforcement block, climbed Tebulosmta, the highest mountain in Chechnya, 4492 meters high. The ascent was dedicated to the 68th anniversary of the birth of Akhmat Kadyrov, the press service for the leader and government of Chechnya reported.
"The Chechen Mountain Climbing Federation urges us to name that unconquered mountain as Akhmat-Lam (Akhmat's Mountain) in honour of Akhmad-Khadji Kadyrov, our first president, Hero of Russia," Daniil Martynov said in a report on the "Grozny" TV Channel.
Let us remind you that in Chechnya, the cult of Akhmat Kadyrov began to be created immediately after his death in 2004. His name is given, in particular, to the avenue in Grozny, the main sports complex of Grozny, and a mosque in the capital of Chechnya.
"The person of Akhmat Kadyrov is being treated as a national hero, the founding father of modern Chechnya, and so much attention is paid to how to emphasize the role of his personality," said Akhmet Yarlykapov, a researcher engaged in oriental studies.
The personality cult has not been historically typical for the Chechen mentality, noted Akhmed Gisaev, the head of the Human Rights Analysis Centre. "The Chechens did not have any kings ... Those people who could die for their idea became heroes," the researcher noted.
