Investigators soften charges against six protesters in Magas

Investigators suggested that the actions of Ingush activists arrested after a rally did not threaten the lives of public officers, advocate Magomed Bekov reported. However, the arrested activists still face charges of using violence, although not life-threatening, against policemen.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 26, investigators softened the charges against Zelimkhan Tomov and Magomed Ozdoev, arrested after the rally in Magas.

It was reported with reference to advocate Magomed Bekov that the charge in the case on use of violence against policemen brought against six participants of the rally in Magas was softened. The sanctions under the new article provide for up to five years of imprisonment instead of ten years.

According to the "Znak.com", according to prosecutors, the suspects used violence against policemen during the rally, "being influenced" by Akhmet Barakhoev, a member of the Ingush Committee of National Unity (ICNU), and Malsag Uzhakhov, the head of the Ingush Council of Teips, "sharing with them a sense of political hostility against Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov."
