Chechen Public Chamber reacts to reports on torture of Chechens detained in Krasnodar

Ismail Denilkhanov, the chairman of the Chechen Public Chamber, asked the Kuban Public Chamber to check the information on the torture of detained natives of the republic. A similar request was voiced by the Chechen Ombudsman.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 21, a shootout occurred in Krasnodar, in which a native of Dagestan was killed. On August 26, it became known that the fifth suspect was detained. Ruslan Kutaev, the chair of the "Assembly of Caucasian Nations", claimed that the detainees had been subjected to torture.

According to the law enforcement bodies, the shootout resulted from a "criminal fight", and not from an ethnic conflict. However, natives of Chechnya and Dagestan told about the tensions between their national communities in Krasnodar.

Relatives of the detainees claim that only natives of Chechnya were arrested, while other participants of the incident remained at large. Meanwhile, law enforcers use pressure against the arrested men to force them to confess.

Besides, social network disseminate the information stating that some natives of Chechnya were injured as a result of the conflict.
