Rights defender claims torture of Chechens detained in Krasnodar

Ruslan Kutaev, the head of the "Assembly of Caucasian Nations", has announced the formation of a group of advocates to help the Chechens detained after the conflict in Krasnodar. Allegedly, they were tortured.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 21, a shootout broke out in Krasnodar; and a native of Dagestan died. On August 26, it became known that the fifth suspect was detained.

The father of one of the Chechens detained in Krasnodar has stated that his son was tortured after the detention, Mr Kutaev wrote in his Facebook. According to his version, during the conflict, the detained natives of Chechnya defended themselves against the attack of the grouping that was supported by law enforcers.

As soon as Kutaev volunteered to help the detainees with the defence by advocates, Chechen authorities intervened in the case of the conflict in Krasnodar, the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, has stated.
