Circassian activist, Martin Kochesoko, states that his accounts were stolen by law enforcers

Martin Kochesoko, the head of the Circassian NGO "Khabze", has complained to the investigator that during his arrest, law enforcers seized control over all his pages in social networks and e-mail.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 23, the Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) cancelled the house arrest of Martin Kochesoko and released him under recognizance not to leave the place. Social network users have demanded to punish those law enforcers, who, in their opinion, falsified the activist's case.

Martin Kochesoko was detained on June 7 in Nalchik. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has announced that he had pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana. The activist himself said that drug was planted on him by law enforcers, who forced him to self-incriminate.

Martin refused to give recognizance not to leave, agreeing only to appear up at the call of the investigator.

Besides, he wrote in his petition that after his release he received his smartphone back, but could not use his e-mail box and his pages in the social networks Facebook, Instagram, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.

"Now, policemen can freely post forbidden or negative information on my behalf and distort the earlier posted content," Mr Kochesoko has stated, as written in the website of the KBR's Regional Human Rights Centre.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
