Investigators soften charges against two Ingush activists

Investigators came to conclusion that actions of Zelimkhan Tomov and Magomed Ozdoev, who were arrested after a rally in Magas, did not threaten the policemen's lives, reported advocate Kaloi Akhilgov on Twitter.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 21, Magomed Ozdoev, a participant of the March protests in Magas, was detained on suspicion of using force against policemen. Activist Zelimkhan Tomov was arrested in the same case.

On March 26, residents of Ingushetia, who demanded the cancellation of the border agreement and the resignation of Yunus-Bek Evkurov, continued the protest rally in Magas without a sanction from the authorities. That led to clashes between protestors and law enforcers on March 27. In early April, law enforcers started to arrest oppositionists in the republic. According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", at least 96 activists were persecuted after the protests, and criminal proceedings were instituted against at least 29 of them.
