Dagestani historian uses irony while answering Kadyrov's questions about Shamil

Today, Zurab Gadjiev, the chairman of the Dagestani Historical and Geographical Society, has entered a correspondence discussion with Ramzan Kadyrov and voiced some facts when answering his questions about the activities of Imam Shamil.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on the 20th anniversary of the Chechen militants' invasion into Dagestan, Ramzan Kadyrov drew a parallel between these events and the 19th century Caucasian War and accused Imam Shamil of repressions against Chechens for their unwillingness to confront Russia. On August 8, in Makhachkala, several dozen people came to the Avar Theatre to protest against Kadyrov's words about Imam Shamil. The action caused Kadyrov's discontent. People who continue writing "twaddle and nonsense" on the Internet should come to their senses so that not to initiate war against them, Ramzan Kadyrov said in his recent video message.

The video entitled "Paragraph 0.5 (Issue 1): 7 answers to 7 questions of Ramzan Kadyrov on the history of Dagestan" is posted on the YouTube channel "Dagestani Historical and Geographical Society" created today.

In particular, Zurab Gadjiev has commented on the video of Ramzan Kadyrov, in which he claims that Chechnya "has no benefits from the Imam Shamil's activities." "For 19 years, he had not brought anything good for our people," Ramzan Kadyrov said emotionally.

"Ramzan Akhmatovich, how can you say that 'he brought nothing'?" Zurab Gadjiev expressed his surprise. "First, he brought Islam and completed the Islamization of the highest mountainous communities. [...] Moreover, without becoming Muslims, people could appear outside the Chechen nation, like that some of Vainakh people, who live in Georgia, who did not become Muslims, and, in fact, has become a part of the Georgian nation today."
