Abdulmumin Gadjiev's wife complains about restrictions on visits to her husband

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of Dagestan dismissed 24 notifications of actions in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an arrested correspondent of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft), reported Arsen Magomedov, one of the initiators of the actions. Dana Sakieva, a wife of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, complains that her visits to her husband are time-limited.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Dagestani MoJ has already dismissed 63 notifications for actions in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev. Another 27 notifications of actions in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev were sent to the Dagestani MoJ on August 14. Meanwhile, one of the selected venues for the actions was an offshore platform.

On June 18, 2019, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the religion section of the Dagestani "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, was arrested under the case of financing terrorism. Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the weekly, is sure that Gadjiev was persecuted because of his articles on Islamic topics.

On August 19, the Dagestani MoJ dismissed 24 notifications, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by lawyer Arsen Magomedov, one of the initiators of the actions.

"The Ministry of Justice is to send a response within three days after receiving a notification. Now the deadlines have passed. Therefore, in fact, our three notifications can be considered as sanctioned, since the Ministry of Justice did not respond to them," the lawyer notes.

Relatives, friends, and acquaintances of Abdulmumin Gadjiev support him, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Dana Sakieva, the wife of the detained journalist.

Meanwhile, the woman has noted that her visits to husband are limited in time by the administration of the SIZO (pre-trial prison).

"I always ask for a visit in a special pavilion, where 1.5-hour visits are allowed. They tell me to wait. And then it all ends up with permission to go up to a special block, and there they let me stay for precisely ten minutes," the woman complained.
