Azerbaijan claims sniper shelling attacks in conflict zone

Within the last 24 hours, the positions of the Azerbaijani troops in the Karabakh conflict zone were shelled for 22 times, including from sniper rifles, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for Azerbaijan reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 15, Azerbaijan claimed 20 shelling attacks within 24 hours. The Azerbaijani MoD reported that the positions of the country's troops were shelled from the direction of the villages treated by Azerbaijan as its occupied territories.

"Units of the armed forces of Armenia used sniper rifles and violated the ceasefire in various directions of the front 22 times within 24 hours," the Azerbaijani MoD has reported today on its official website.

According to the Azerbaijani MoD, the positions of the Azerbaijani troops were shelled in the villages of Kemerli in the Gazakh District, Kokhanebi in the Tovuz District, and at the nameless heights in the Gadabay District.

As at 9:15 a.m. Moscow time on today, the Ministries of Defence for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet posted on their official websites any comments on the statement released by the Azerbaijani MoD.
