Azerbaijan reports control over new territory on border with Armenia

Azerbaijani border guards took up new positions on the neutral section of the border with Armenia in the Gazakh District. The change of control over border sections on the contact line of troops is a "routine," the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia responds.

The Azerbaijani Border Guard Service units advanced on the contact line of troops in the Gazakh District, the "Turan" reported on August 14.

Azerbaijani border guards took up new military posts on the neutral section of the border with Armenia, and that fact would allow them controlling not only the Armenian posts, but also access roads to them, and eliminating the threat of Armenian shelling attacks on Azerbaijani villages and towns, the "1news.az" reported on August 14.

Artsrun Ovannisyan, Press Secretary of the Armenian MoD, announces that the movement of the positions on the contact line of troops is a routine. He called the report about the change in the border with Azerbaijan "another information bait." The Armenian MoD itself takes similar actions, but does not give them such resonance, Artsrun Ovannisyan notes.
