Gadjiev's colleagues file new 27 notifications on actions in his support
Friends and colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an arrested correspondent of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft), submitted 27 more notifications to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of Dagestan about holding public actions in his support. The activists are ready to hold a rally even at an offshore abandoned workshop of the "Dagdiesel" plant, states Arsen Magomedov, an initiator of the action.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Dagestani MoJ has already dismissed 63 notifications for actions in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.
On June 18, 2019, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, the editor of the religion section of the Dagestani "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, was arrested under the case of financing terrorism. Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the weekly, is sure that Gadjiev was persecuted because of his articles on Islamic topics.
The notifications of actions in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev were submitted to the Dagestani MoJ on August 14. The notifications suggest different dates and places: organizers are ready to hold their action even at an abandoned 8th workshop of the "Dagdiesel" plant located 2.7 km from the coast of the Caspian Sea, reports lawyer Arsen Magomedov, one of the initiators of the action.
According to him, the activists suggested to hold a rally of 600 people at the "Dagdiesel" plant workshop on August 25. Officials dismissed all previous notifications with reference to the fact that the venues were already occupied by cultural events, the lawyer noted. "We hope at least that territory will be free from any cultural events," Arsen Magomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
