Shevchenko retracts his statement about Kadyrov after Daudov's call

Journalist Maxim Shevchenko apologized with restrain for saying that Ramzan Kadyrov had "given back" in the discussion about Imam Shamil. The journalist had to "take back" his judgment after a call of Magomed Daudov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on the 20th anniversary of the invasion of Chechen militants in Dagestan, Ramzan Kadyrov drew a parallel between those events and the Caucasian war of the 19th century and accused Imam Shamil of reprisals against Chechens for their unwillingness to confront Russia. Residents of Dagestan condemned these Kadyrov's statements.

Today, on his Instagram page, Maxim Shevchenko has reported about a conversation with the speaker of the Chechen parliament. The journalist has noted he and Magomed Daudov are connected by "fairly good relations."

They spoke about the statement voiced by Maxim Shevchenko on YouTube in the evening on August 11. The journalist stated that Ramzan Kadyrov "gave back" in the dispute he had started about the identity of Imam Shamil. The journalist criticized the judgments voiced by the leader of Chechnya and referred to the historical data.

According to the journalist, Magomed Daudov "drew his attention" to "those offensive words." "Of course, I'm ready to take them back," Maxim Shevchenko said in a video posted on his Instagram page. In his post, the journalist also added that the "words were wrong in a civilized dispute and offensive to a man and a native of the Caucasus."
