NKR counts 90 shelling attacks in conflict zone during week
From July 28 to August 3, Azerbaijani military servicemen fired about 600 shots at the positions of the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), its Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 21-27, the NKR recorded 150 shelling attacks undertaken by the Azerbaijani side.
During the period from July 28 until today, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces violated the ceasefire regime for 90 times on the troops contact line, the NKR's MoD wrote on its website. According to the MoD, the opponent made use of large-calibre small arms.
In its turn, the Azerbaijani MoD has stated 21 shelling attacks committed over the past 24 hours by Armenia and from territories controlled by the NKR's authorities.
After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties agreed on the ceasefire. Despite the agreement, over two years, the parties claimed daily shelling attacks in the conflict zone, as it follows from the infographic "Karabakh after the truce: a two-year war" prepared by the "Caucasian Knot". After the meeting of officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia and Azerbaijan, held on June 20, Azerbaijan stated an almost complete cessation of shelling attacks; however, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Nagorno-Karabakh continues to register violations of the ceasefire.
