Law enforcers' raid at Makhachkala mosque passes without detentions

On Friday, August 2, after the traditional namaz (prayer), mobile patrol units checked documents of the parishioners of the "Tangim" mosque in Makhachkala. Law enforcers explained the checks by the conducted operations "Alcohol" and "Seat Belt".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Makhachkala, law enforcers are regularly conducting Friday raids near the "Tangim" mosque. On March 12, parishioners of the mosque appealed to the prosecutor's office, after which the number of raids went down. On July 19, believers' cars were stopped after the Friday namaz (prayer) under the pretext of traffic rules violations.

On August 2, over 20 law enforcers took part in the raid conducted near the mosque, the journalist, Idris Yusupov, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. They stopped the cars and asked for documents, after which they wrote down the data of the car and its owner.

At the press service of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Dagestan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told that no one was taken to police stations during the raid; all the checks were made on the spot.

"The operations 'Alcohol' and 'Seat Belt' are being conducted," one of the policemen, who carried out the raid, explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
