Ramzan Kadyrov's fellow villager appointed head of Argun police department

Residents of Chechnya associate the appointment of Alikhan Tsakaev to the post of the head of the Argun police department with the desire of the Chechen authorities to strengthen the position of Khas-Magomed Kadyrov, a 28-year-old relative of the Chechen leader, who was appointed the Mayor of Argun.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 26, Khas-Magomed Kadyrov, a 28-year-old relative of the leader of Chechnya, was appointed the Mayor of Argun. Local residents suggest that by appointing his relatives Ramzan Kadyrov strengthens his own "vertical axis of power," while researchers engaged in oriental studies question such a version.

On August 1, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learned from an official of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) that at the position of the head of the Argun police department, Alikhan Tsakaev replaced Colonel Arthur Alkhanov, a son of Ruslan Alkhanov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Chechnya, who occupied the post since August 2018.

Alikhan Tsakaev is a native of the village of Tsentaroi (Akhmat-Yurt) located in the Kurchaloi District of Chechnya.

"Alikhan Tsakaev, like the Alkhanov family, is a fellow villager of Ramzan [Kadyrov]. So, in principle, we can say that Ramzan Kadyrov replaced one of his fellow villagers with another. Arthur Alkhanov will also get a good position, there is no doubt about that," believes Suleiman, a resident of Argun.

"Tsakaev was appointed to lead the Argun police department not by chance. The city has got the new mayor, 28-year-old Khas-Magomed Kadyrov, and his power is reinforced by the appointment of a man like Tsakaev, who enjoys full confidence from Ramzan [Kadyrov]," said Lukman, a resident of the republic.
