Online demonstration in support of Gadjiev launched in social networks

On July 28, colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the Dagestani edition "Chernovik" (Draft), arrested under the case of financing terrorism, have held an action in his support in social networks.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev was arrested on June 18 within a terrorism financing case; however, in the opinion of Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the edition, Gadjiev has suffered for his articles on Islamic topics.

The action in the Internet was announced on July 27, on the "Chernovik" page on the Instagram, after the Dagestani Supreme Court (SC) and the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) refused to sanction a demonstration in Gadjiev's support.

"But nobody can forbid us to hold an online action in support of Gadjiev on the Internet. What should be done for that? To write on a sheet of paper '#FreedomToAbdulmumin'; make a photo with this sheet of paper; and to post this photo on the Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp or Telegram on Sunday, July 28, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.," says the edition's message.

The action in Gadjiev's support began on July 28 at 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, when social network users began uploading their photos with hashtags #DemonstrationForFreedomOfAbdulmumin and #FreedomToAbdulmumin to the "Chernovik" page on the Instagram. In the photos they stand with posters with the above hashtags.
